The Danes really are at the top of there game when it comes to designing original quality menswear. We’ve been buzzing off the likes of Norse Projects & Suit for a few years now and the AW13 Collection from another successful danish export ‘Han Kjobenhavn‘, has really caught my eye this festive period. Also, like myself; one of their models on the website is follicily challenged with some impressive facial hair, which in all honesty made me take a second look.
In 2008, Hans Kjobenhavn began creating simple, aesthetically pleasing clothing with a focus on using the highest quality materials. Ok, so this is similar to most European labels, right? Well in my view Han Kjobenhavn has the edge through coupling high quality fashion with an innovative marketing campaign, based around creative images and short films. Their campaigns are really slick and create a very raw, working class feel to the brand. This short film from their company website should give you an idea of what i mean;
Nice looking films/images aside, they are first and foremost a fashion brand and for me Han Kjobenhavn’s knitwear, outerwear, accessories & superb one off posters are on the money (Their sunglasses are the business!) Here are sample pictures of my favourites from the AW13 collection:
Han Kjobenhavn have come on a long way since their beginnings in Copenhagen, with the label recently opening a store New York City. They also have a growing distribution network with stockists globally across Europe, Asia & Australia. Take a look at this link to article from the New York Times on the recent opening of the NY store.
So, if you’re growing tired of gawping at traditional models showcasing standard mainline clobber, then I would have swing by Hans Kjobenhavn’s website and take a gander at some of coolest fifty somethings I’ve seen … who said modelling is a young mans game!
