These Chicago brothers were the best band I had the pleasure of seeing at Latitude Festival back in 2011, and that’s some statement considering the quality bands on the bill. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble bring that much energy, passion and authenticity to their live performances you would think you’re witnessing the first gig they’d ever played. Each member is a master of their own craft and play range of brass instruments including; trumpets, trombones, a baritone, sousaphone & tuba. They fuse together all the traditional jazz influences they were exposed during their childhood with elements of hip-hop, rock, reggae and soul. I appreciate this sounds a bit like a shit mismatch of random genres here, but trust me, when all pulled together it just works.
The band are currently on a European tour (somewhat of a rarity) with one UK date scheduled at Under the Bridge in Chelsea on Friday 31st January 2014, meaning there is still plenty of time to snap up tickets for what will no doubt be an outstanding live show.
Tickets are available at songkick for £22.00, which is an absolute steal to see these chaps live. So, if your in London town at the end of the month and fancy kicking your ‘Dry Jan’ into touch, then check out their hypnotic brass groove. I guarantee you’ll be nodding your head too it for weeks.
