For those of you that thought Marty McFly invented the skateboard in 80’s classic ‘Back to the Future’, well he didn’t…its a film!! Although, creating a board out of some bairns soapbox car isn’t that far from the truth. Skateboards have been around since the early 1900’s, back then they used to consist of wheeled wood bases with a milk crate nailed to them; cue Michael.J.Fox smashing up a kids woeful excuse for a skateboard, nicking the thing and hitching a ride on the bumper of a Chevrolet….what a guy!
Bringing us back to reality somewhat, skate culture is now a global business and two brands at the forefront of British skate culture are classic footwear brand ‘Reebok’ and London based skateboard brand ‘Palace’. To kick off the New Year they’ve joined forces to bring us a classic sneaker; the Palace X Reebok Workout Low Clean FVS Skate Shoe.
The Palace x Reebok Workout Shoe showcases Reebok’s typically classic understated design, whilst drawing on Palace’s skate knowledge to produce a trainer that not only performs well, but looks the business. These skate shoes from Native have an improved vulcanised rubber sole to give unrivalled board grip, twinned with Reebok’s classic no-nonsense leather upper. The tongue detail looks spot on, with the Palace gold triangle emblem giving the shoe a classic retro feel. This is Palace X Reebok second collaboration and for me they’re on the money again. Good work!
Their Navy/White offering gets my personal vote, as the gold detailing looks great against the Navy leather upper (The Black/White version comes with a suede upper). To check out prices, sizes and the rest of the range head across to the Native Skate Store.
