I can’t remember the last time I purchased some decent denim. The last few pairs of jeans I’ve purchased have been re-hashed black 501’s. Now don’t get me wrong, my Levi’s have been serving me well and I can’t complain for under 40 quid … but I’m going too. Here’s the problem; I’m now on my fourth pair and with each one I’ve puchased the stitching’s gone on the inside leg. So where does the issue lie? I’ve concluded that this recurring problem is down to three key contributing factors; 1. Poor workmanship from the worlds leading denim brand (hmmm). 2. The fact they’re second hand and very well used. 3. The fact they’ve been re-stitched and altered to create a slimmer leg. All very genuine reasons for my jeans splitting a the seams, right? Although there’s actually a fourth factor, the one I’v been refusing to admit for some time; 4. I need to grow up and admit defeat. I am no longer 21 and my growing waistline/arse is pushing these classic jeans to the brink of their futile existence! Seems a bit more plausible doesn’t it?
If I’m going to continue believing I can pull off skinny jeans in my 30’s, I definitely need a pair of resilient buggers! My choice for this mother of all jobs is a few pairs of Edwin ED-88 & ED-80’s. The ED-88 & ED-80s are the slimmest fitting of Edwin’s AW13 mens denim collection and in my opinion are the best January sale jeans around for under £90 quid. Check out my preferred washes below.
