This weeks featured release has been getting big support from the likes of Cottam (one of my favourite jocks) for some time now and I’m pleased to see it return to Juno today with a re-press from Melbourne Deepcast.
‘The Loves Tapes‘ by Berlin born Max Graef is four track EP featuring ‘As If’ a no nonsense house track you may have heard over recent months since the records initial release in September last year. ‘As if’ is a rolling sample heavy track with high end symbols and dubby loop cutting in and out throughout. It’s a slick club record that needs to be heard on a good sound system.
‘A Tale Of Love’ is another sample laden track, although not quite as club friendly as ‘As If’, whereas ‘Pedro’ and ‘Jacksonville’ bring a much more laid back melodic vibe to the record with lovely keys and subtle female vocal samples. The record really highlights Max Graef’s diverse musical influences ranging from house, bass, hip-hop and Jazz. The DJ/producer is also set to release his debut album on April 7th ‘Rivers Of The Red Planet’ on Tartelet Records and judging by the samples off the album featured below, its going be well worth a look.
