When I was a bairn owning a pair of ‘Air Max’ was considered something of a statement of popularity amongst my peers. That air bubble fascinated everyone didn’t it? Unfortunately, I was one of those kids who’s mam’s used to take them to Clarks for their sneaks (sneaks in the loosest sense of the word) and made me endure the foot measuring machine until I was about 14 years old; I’m cringing just thinking about how uncool I was. Fair play to my mother though, 90 quid was a lot of dough to spend on trainers back then, I mean it is now isn’t it?
The one thing I’ve always loved about Air Max is that the style and shape of the trainer has never really changed in 20 years. It’s still got that chunky feel to it with raised heel and instantly recognisable air bubble. A real classic, good looking trainer.
I’m pleased to see they’re back with a new version of the Air Max to coincide with what promises to be a great summer of football. Nike have always been at the forefront of football boot design and their latest Quickstrike Air Max 1 limited Edition FB trainers pay homage to the brands Mercurial boot series. Each differing colour design is associated with a particular World Cup year and the sneaks are crafted in a synthetic Nikeskin upper, coloured overlays and a durable white under-sole.
A great trainer to celebrate Nike’s football heritage. Get them over at TRIADS
