It’s not something that a man tends to admit openly, but I’m rather partial to a good spa weekend. Now I would have never considered such a metrosexual pastime a few years ao, but my better half has most definitely converted me. After a hard week at work there’s nothing better than a massage to get truly relax the mind and body. Also, if you’re prone to stress or anxiety it really can do wonders to combat your symptoms.
If you’re looking for northern spa retreats, I can recommend both Stobo Castle, near Peebles in the Scottish borders and Armathwaite Hall near Keswick in the Lake District. I’ve paid a visit to both these hotels and the service, facilities, location and dining were top notch.
If spas aren’t your bag, but you still fancy a decent weekend getaway then Yorebridge House may well be a good shout. It’s firmly on my radar for a weekend visit this summer after being recommended this boutique hotel by a good friend of mine following him paying a visit a couple of months ago.
Yorebridge House Hotel is situated on the banks of the river Ure in the small village of Bainbridge in the Yorkshire Dales. I’ve driven through Bainbridge numerous times and it really is a picturesque spot.
Yorebridge House has a selection of rooms styled with many traditional features and contemporary luxury finishes you would expect from a boutique 5-star. Room prices range from £200 per night bed and breakfast to £345 per night (all rates are based on two people sharing). The £345 tariff includes a 3 course evening meal from the hotels fine restaurant menu, breakfast the following morning and a room in the ‘Barn Suite’, which is an old converted barn complete with original exposed beams. The Barn suite is spread across 2 floors; the downstairs houses a fully equipped kitchenette and lounge complete with 50 inch 3D LED and PlayStation 3 (spending a night in playing on grand theft auto isn’t my cup of tea, but each to there own). Upstairs has an open plan bedroom with 46 inch TV, double tsunami shower (cripes) and a stand-alone roll top bath. The main pull for me though is that the room includes its own private terrace and outdoor hot tub.
All things considered, this looks very reasonably priced for a luxury night/weekend away.
There are thirteen unique rooms available, with six of those including the use of your very own private hot tub.
Finally, if you’re into your cycling you will be aware the ‘Tour de France’ comes to the UK this year and heads through the Yorkshire Dales (Bainbridge village itself for that matter) in July. Therefore, Yorebridge House could prove to be a great base check out Cavandish and Co in action.
