Anyone who knows me well will know I’m right into Tootals. Popular throughout 60s & 70s, the iconic scarf of choice for mods, hard-knocks and skinheads is one of the oldest British fashion brands in existence dating back to 1799.
Hard-knocks really knew how to dress back then (no pricey Stone Island in sight). A pair of Doc Martins (grand for kicking the shit out of folk), acid wash denim, leather jacket and one of these Tootals to spice up your neckline; Not too dissimilar from what todays muso’s are wearing actually. Mr Mod himself Weller was partial to a neck scarf and even Combo can be seen wearing one in ‘This is England’ and let’s be honest, he’s well hard.
If you’ve got time to kill have a root around some charity/vintage shops where you can pick up an old vintage one for as little as a fiver. Although if you fancy one that doesn’t smell somewhat fruity, then check out these new scarves from Stuarts London.
