Swedish Shirts from Our Legacy

30th July 2014

I’ve been writing this blog for over 6 months now and it’s just dawned on me that I’ve not once given Swedish shirt making maestro’s Our Legacy even the briefest of airtime. So here goes …

My first introduction to OL came back in the autumn of 2010 when picked up one of their heavy flannel checked shirts from End. Constructed from a super thick cotton, this led to me sweating my cob off in just about every boozer I stepped foot in for a good while. Anyway, despite resembling a sow-on-a-spit when wearing the thing, I’ve never let something as insignificant as being a sorry sweating mess stop me from sporting my new garments.

Similar to my first love ‘Gitman‘, Our Legacy manufacture some excellent buttoned down, high collared shirting, and in my opinion a decent collar either makes or breaks a shirt. In addition, their knack of creating timeless gear without being overly snooty is one reason I’ve begun revisiting Our Legacy with increasing regularity.

Back to their AW14 stock, and the 1950’s Blue Vibration Shirt worn below by this ‘stereotypical looking Swedish bloke on a promise’ gets my props. Features include those familiar high back-vents, chest pocket and buttoned down collar. Finally, for those wrestling with this mafting weather we’re having, you’ll be pleased to hear it’s manufactured in a lightweight cotton/linen mix, meaning you can wear it to that barbecue on the weekend safe in the knowledge you won’t resemble the late Oliver Reed after a night on the brandy’s …

… unless you happen to have been up all night on the brandy’s.
