One of my first posts on the blog last December featured the Oliver Spencer’s Grandpa’s Coat and to my delight they’ve released a new ‘navy wittin’ version for this coming winter.
It’s the simplicity of the thing that appeals to me, I mean if you look at the Grandpa’s Coat there’s not a double zip placket, calves leather elbow patch or Japanese engineered pocket in sight; it’s just a single breasted, buttoned front warm winter coat, and I just love that. Proper no-nonsense winter gear that (as the name suggests) spans generations.
Now the Grandpa may be uncomplicated in its design, but as we’ve come to expect from Ollie Spencer it certainly doesn’t scrimp on quality, with a 100% heavy English wool finish and a cotton/viscose inner lining. Further features include 3 external pockets (2 front and 1 chest slip), button cuff, rear vent and those standard black buttons leading up to a high top collar. Without question one of the best coats for your buck.
