You might have noticed we’re mad keen on New Balance here at Thinking Chap ‘HQ’, so much so I plan on obtaining illustrations of their classic 996 shoe to chuck on the office wall.
‘HQ’ … what an odd (highly annoying) abbreviation in which to describe a bloggers workplace. It creates the illusion I’m sited in an envrionmently sustainable glass fronted office, sat on a colour-block bean bag, enjoying a skinny late whilst tweeting about the contents of my graze box. The reality is, I’m in my spare bedroom sat on a wooden dining chair acquired from Gateshead Charity Housing Trust, slurping Yorkshire Tea from my Periodic Table of Swearing Mug and waiting impatiently for the Wi-Fi to stop being an arsehole. Mind you, I’ll have you know I wouldn’t have it any other way, unless I had loads of poke that is, and then yes, I would probably have it any other way.
Back to the 996 in question and these latest versions are a re-issue of the 1989 road-runner that proved one of the Boston Footwear brands best-sellers. Expect a higher silhouette due to its padded ankle panels (without being an all-out hi-top) and colour-ways that include; ‘Forest Green’ and my personal favourite in ‘Mustard’ yellow. Further features include the NB Tongue Logo, New Balance branding, iconic white leather ‘N’ panel, suede/mesh upper and a revlite mid-sole/rubber out-sole.
