What do the Tokyo province of Harajuku and the Outer Hebrides have in common? nowt surely? Or so I thought …
This Autumn, functional Japanese menswear brand Beams Plus have roped in highlands and Islands woollen exporter, Harris Tweed to form some kind of multi-cultural outerwear superbeing. I’m thinking something along the lines of Thunder Cat’s baddy Mumm-ra kitted out in some off-the-scale Belstaff x Barbour limited edition trench coat.
Anyway, I’ve picked out my favourites from of their collection, including a grown-up take on the classic duffle coat, complete with Gore Windstopper fabric meaning it’s warmer, more water resistant and remains breathable, which I find hard to believe! I mean come on, a duffle coat! breathable! If this turns out to be true then as I said … superbeing.
If that weren’t enough, Beam’s have also gone all contemporary on their bad selves and manufactured a range of tweed body warmer vests. Features include a feather filled lining for extra insulation, nylon lined inner, the famous Harris Tweed Orb logo, and if you aint too keen on the orange colour-way, then don’t fret, it’s reversible.
These lot really do think of everything ….
