My mother reads these posts now and then, so first things first;
”Mam, don’t fret, I do like the River Island scarf you got me for Christmas, and yes I have been wearing it … ok I haven’t, but you’ll be pleased to know I did find use for it as a makeshift oven glove yesterday. But don’t be pissed off, I just aint been out the house for the best part of a week as I’m proper hooked on these up-market top trump thingymajigs’.
First published back in April 2013, Style Wars is an Iconic Outfits Card Game, basically Top Trumps for those discerning menswear heads amongst us. Rules mirror that of the original Waddington’s game, although David Sparshotts superb pencil illustrations imply something rather more cultivated than those TOWIE Top Trumps you got Kelly in HR for last years Secret Santa.
Expect a range of classic brands such as Paul Smith and Prada, sitting nicely alongside more contemporary offerings from the likes of Raf Simon’s and Yohki Yamamoto. Each outfit/season has the following 5 scoring categories; Boardroom Kudos, Vintage Resale Value (in US Dollars), Timeless Appeal, Mainstream Imitations, Seduction Factor (a strange one), and Trendsetting Potential.
Finally, each card features a brief synopsis of that designer or outfit, which is handy if you’re not bang up to speed on your 1956 Ray Ban Wayfarers.
Style Wars, they’re better than Travel Connect 4 you know.
