The long slog finally is over, pay-day has arrived and yes that half price Woolrich Parka you’ve had your eye on since New Year has long since found it’s way to a new home. Or has it?
Now I’m ‘back in the black’ (for a matter of days at least anyway), I’ve spent the last week browsing the rails and webstores of my favourite independents to establish whether there’s any Winter stock left that isn’t, well … a bit shit!
There’s no denying that I did, as suspected, unearth a fair amount of shit. However, I was encouraged to discover there’s in fact some very decent threads still to be snapped up if you’re prepared to spend a few hours searching the interment machine. Here are some places where we reckon you might just bag yourself a bargain. happy hunting!
END CLOTHING: Our North East neighbours carry such an assemblage of labels, there’s regularly an abundance of decent ‘end of sale’ togs to be had. You can currently find 50% of all Arpenteur and Paul Smith jackets, including sizes in some tidy PS zip-up bombers that should fit the bill for those marginally warmer spring months .
GOODHOOD: Holborn’s contemporary menswear moguls Goodhood have some serious sale shirting on the go from the likes of Neighborhood and Wood Wood. Plus, to my amazement they’ve still got sizes remaining in limited edition Vans x Snoopy OG footwear, which is currently (they might as well be giving them away) 70% off.
WEAVERS DOOR: Those sartorial scouse scenesters over at Weavers Door have a strong selection of Nordic needlework left on the rails from the likes Norse Projects & Fjallraven. Whereas if it’s denim your after, they’ve got a few ‘everyman’ sizes left in the Edwin ED-80’s and ED-55’s. Boss!
OI POLLOI: Manchester institution Oi Polloi have hacked prices at various junctures throughout the month of January, and they’ve been at it again over the weekend. The countdown is on though. Use this aptly named discount code ‘CHEAPSKATE’ at the checkout for an extra 20% off their current sale prices until 3pm today. Better get a shift on then!
KAFKA: I’m a big advocate of KAFKA an not only because they stock my first love, Engineered Garments, but because here’s a web-store is slick/user friendly and their portfolio of brands is pretty much unrivalled; an impressive feat considering it’s northerly location. Expect to find some half price togs from YMC, Barbour Heritage and EG head honcho Daizki Suzki.
SANDQVIST: Swedish satchel sovereigns Sandqvist currently have 50% off their ‘Artur’ leather briefcase and ‘Charlie’ messenger bags, both of which are suitable for carting around very very important documents, half eaten bananas, and 8 month old cash-back receipts from down your local.
THE GREAT DIVIDE: London’s Great Divide are feeling particularly charitable with 70% off selected lines, and if that weren’t enough they’ve got an extra 10% off current reductions until midnight tonight. Just use discount code ‘ALLGONE10’ at the checkout. At the time of writing this you can still get your hands on denim from Levi Vintage Clothing and Streetwear from Orsman. Madness!
Quick sharp though, or there’ll be nowt left!
