‘People Behind The Craft’ from With Love Project

12th May 2015

I would say that I’m passionate about the things I write about, but that doesn’t mean to say I love, or even like all the content featured on this blog. However, it would be fair to say this content always evokes some kind of emotional response that in turn encourages me to put pen to paper. Often it might be something that triggers an entertaining story or an experience that I felt could make a worthwhile post. On other occasions it might be dislike or disdain for something. But more often than not it’s just a genuine love for something and that innate desire to share it with the world. The ‘With Love Project’ is one such concept.

‘With Love’ is a site dedicated to finding people who produce things with a passion and purpose. And when Rob Evans & Chris Roberts (the guys behind the project) approached me to ask if I would be willing to spread the word, it was one of the easiest decisions I’ve had to make since I started this blog.

The Project itself documents their search to find individuals who truly care about what they do and what they produce. Asking these crafts people one single question … “Why do you do what you do?” The answers to this question are to be documented in a hardback book ‘People behind the craft’, which will celebrate those makers who produce things with a passion and skill.

To date the project has seen stories documenting 15 individual crafts people, one being David Hieatt co-founder Huit Denim who we’ve championed on here in the past. With 40 accounts to be featured in total ranging from a bespoke motorcycle maker, to an independent baker, Chris & Rob are planning a road trip to meet the further 25 individuals and document their stories in this limited edition book. Their jaunt will start in Devon and finish in the Outer Hebrides with a fella who knocks out the finest Harris Tweed.

As with many independent ventures, project is entirely self-funded and with this in mind the guys have launched a Kickstarter campaign, which allows you to make a pledge to help get this great concept get off the ground. All the funds raised will go into the production of the 500 copies of the book and as eluded to earlier, this is project of passion, not profit.

If you would like to get involved and be part of making this concept a reality then head over to the With Love Kickstarter page and take a look for yourself.

The campaign ends on Monday 25th May.
