I’ve always struggled with the pronunciation of ‘Saucony’. For some reason I find myself wanting to say ‘Saucisson’, which is obviously cured french sausage meat and hasn’t got anything to do with classic American running apparel. But unfortunately that’s now my small brain works, so to simplify things I’m just going call them ‘those decent trainers from Pennsylvania’
Although pals of mine having been raving about ‘those decent trainers from Pennsylvania’ for ages I’ve never been completely sold. Why? Well ultimately it’s down to their colour-ways, many of which have proven to be a little too garish for my taste. Until that is this Lodge Pack release came to my attention last week, which looks the absolute clart!
Originally available exclusively to Saucony.com back in January, the Lodge Pack takes the classic silhouette designed by New Zealand Marathon Runner, Rob Dixon back in 1983 and gives it an outdoorsy makeover in the form of these grey (wool) and camo uppers. Further features include a Long John lining to keep your toes warm, and a gum-like rubber outsole to ensure you won’t go arse-over-tit when roaming through the countryside building dens and tree-houses and pretending you’re an extra in Merlin.
Be quick though, the camo versions are shifting and are limited in availability. At the time of writing @ Liquor Store still had a few sizes in stock.
