Slow Town Records No. 10 – Rhythm & Soul

19th June 2015

I’ve championed vinyl only label Slow Town on a few occasions and I’m pleased to see them return this month with another ace record to mark their 10th release. What’s impressed me most since the labels inception back in 2013 is their ability to consistently release music that throws you right back to the 90s house scene whilst still somehow managing to sound new and fresh.

This latest EP comes from label owner Rhythm & Soul, and features an superb old school rolling groove in the form of opener ‘Lost Grooves’. If you were into Nial’s ‘Lost Trax 1997’ EP on Shabby Doll records last year, then this will be right up your street. Second track ‘Cookies’ is heavy on the 909, and the EP finishes with a superb female vocal on the trippy ‘When He Goes Deep’.

Slow Town 10 is currently available on 180 gram vinyl from all the usual spots.

Now with it being Friday and all that carry on, I thought I’d leave you with something nice to download courtesy of Bologna based house head Riccio who carefully put together this selection of tracks for the label’s mix series last year. Listen out for ‘Chicago House Orchestra – Love Love Love’ on Midnight Riot around 27 minutes in …. proper hypnotic fodder!

Have a good weekend,

Pete
