You would take your motor in for a service after a bit of wear and tear wouldn’t you? so why not your jeans? Well now you can courtesy of the tooled-up denim mechanic’s over at Brighton based Dawson denim.
Kelly Dawson and Scott Ogden have been designing, cutting and sewing their own specialist denim goods since 2012 using traditional techniques to create a collection that is functional, and designed with personal attention to detail. Dawson use Selvedge Denim from Okayama, Japan; which is still woven on looms dating back as far as 1910.
Now not only are they are a dab-hand at designing the blue stuff, but these two go a step further with each piece including its own ‘log book’. The idea behind the log book is simple. It entitles the owner to a denim service in the first six months after purchase whereby any wear and tear on the garment will be repaired by hand, for nowt, back at their garage … I mean workshop.
So next time you have an argument with the mrs over who’s turn it is to put the bins out and she subsequently decides to take a carving knife to one of these denim man-aprons you just bought, then the nice folk at Dawson will be on hand to sort it out. Just don’t forget you’re V5.
Finally, proper indigo heads will be keen to know they’ve got a new collection coming out soon (keep updated via their newsletter) and their website has without doubt the best denim glossary i’ve ever seen.
