The ‘Lodge Pack’ release aside I’ve never really been that into Saucony. They’re trainers I feel I should like because my pals and cool sneaker folk tell they’re rather good, but unfortunately I just can’t get into them. It’s probably down to the fact the colour-ways are a little garish for my taste. Universal Works on the other hand, now they’re a brand I do like, or dare I go as far to say love.
So, what if these two decided to join forces and make something together? I’d be firmly sat on the fence, right? Well, they have. And to my surprise, I’m not. In fact, I’m pretty damn keen on this new UW rework of the Saucony’s Shadow Original silhouette, dubbed the ‘Works Pack’. Blue or white suede uppers are the order of the day here with subtle features including an Agron Blue Rigid Heel Cup and UW branded tongue logo.
If you’re still undecided I would advise having a gawp at this clever ‘made with good ingredients’ video from graphic designer Allan Buxton, or perhaps these photos of this tall handsome bloke standing on a bunch of rocks.
